Move Over, Andrew Garfield! 19-Year-Old English Actor Tom Holland Is The New Spiderman

Little-known English actor Tom Holland has been picked to play the web-slinging superhero in the next Spider-Man film, which is due for release in July 2017, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios said on Tuesday.

Holland, 19, will play Spider-Man’s teenage alter ego Peter Parker as a high-school age student in the upcoming, yet-to-be titled film. He follows in the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who have portrayed the comic book superhero at older stages of his life in the five previous movies. Holland played Naomi Watt’s son in the 2012 tsunami drama ‘The Impossible’ and recently appeared in the British television miniseries ‘Wolf Hall.’

Writer Stan Lee and writer/artist Steve Ditko created the fictional superhero character, who first appeared in comics in 1962. The “Spider-Man” franchise has earned more than $4 billion at the box office worldwide, making it the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures.

Both Salman Khan and Kabir Khan are in trouble now as they have been slapped with legal notices by Anil Singh Pradhan, Chitrakoot, UP, who is a social activist. A Hindi daily has claimed that the notice has been filed because Bajrangi Bhaijaan has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. Pradhan's objection is since Bajrangi is the name of a Hindu God, the word Bhaijaanis inappropriate to be used. Anil Singh Pradhan added to his allegation that Kabir Khan is releasing the film on Eid so that he could offend the activists even more.

Katrina Kaif Has Bagged Her First International Film, And It's With None Other Than Jackie Chan!

Katrina Kaif is going places. The actress has signed her first international film, co-starring Jackie Chan. The film is titled Kung Fu Yoga. The action-adventure will be directed by Hong Kong based filmmaker Stanley Tong. He had earlier helmed the Jackie Chan classic, Rumble in the Bronx. Katrina was born in Hong Kong. The 31-year-old actress will play an Indian professor at a Chinese university. Chan plays a Chinese archaeologist who enlists her help to unearth treasures from the Magadha era. 

In May 2015, the Chinese superstar had told a local newspaper that he is keen to co-produce and act in Indo-Chinese collaborations. His statement appeared after the two countries inked an agreement for co-productions in 2014 when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited India. The exchange was further strengthened when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a trip to China. 

"Katrina has performed a lot of action in Ek Tha Tiger and will be seen kicking and punching in this film too," reveals the source. Katrina has been busy with Abhishek Kapoor's Fitoor, an Indianised adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel, Great Expectations. The film will have a 2016 Valentine's Day release.

Makkonen, a Finnish national, passed away on Friday at the age of 63 following serious illness, Finnish language daily Ilkka reported.

Despite being known as the father of SMS, Makkonen was often quick to point out that he did not invent the technology single-handedly.

In 2012, he told BBC News — in an SMS interview — that he believed texting in some form would be around "forever."

"The real launch of the service, as I see it, was when Nokia introduced the first phone that enabled easy writing of messages (Nokia 2010 in 1994)," he had said. He said he did not use "txt spk" himself, though he pointed out that texting could be thought of as having had an impact on the development of language.

The film is in news again but this time, sadly, for a terrible reason. One of the back-up dancers of the film, Nilesh Nirbhavane has been arrested for raping a 14-year-old specially-abled girl. Nilesh was arrested by Pant Nagar Police on June 26th and he has confessed his heinous crime too. According to a leading daily, Nilesh confronted the police saying that he had been raping the girl along with a friend for almost a month now. Nilesh and his friend used to take the minor to public toilets or other isolated places to sexually assault her. This gruesome activity was first noticed by the minor's teacher, who said that she could observe a drastic change in the 14-year-old's behavior and it was after a short question-answer session that she could figure what exactly was going wrong. Finally, it was her teacher who chose to talk to the girl's parents about it, following which the parents decided to take it to Pant Nagar Police station on June 25.

Initially, she had given the names of three accused. We took in one of them for inquiry, but investigations revealed he had no role to play in the incident. However, the girl described Nirbhavane using a distinctive feature that he had two broken front teeth.
