No rethinking on demonetisation decision, country has welcomed the move, says government.

The government on Monday ruled out any rethinking on the issue of demonetization saying the country has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.



At a meeting of the BJP parliamentary board, leaders from across the country said that there is an overwhelming support for the government's bold move to fight black money and corruption, Union minister Venkaiah Naidu said.

The mood of the nation is in favour of Modi government, everyone agreed that it is a historic decision, Naidu said giving details of the BJP meeting.



He ruled out any chance of government rethinking on the issue.



Allegations levelled by the opposition are baseless, we will answer them at an appropriate time, the Union minister added.



In Parliament, we will get to know which people are on the side of black money hoarders, Venkaiah Naidu said.



Meanwhile, all NDA allies have also supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the demonetisation issue at a meeting of the coalition parties.



At NDA meeting chaired by PM Modi, all the allies extended their support on the demonetisation issue, Union Minister Ananth Kumar said.



PM thanked all parties for the support and said "the credit for the move will not go to him personally" but to all parties that are standing firm with the government.



The remarks come amid a united opposition assault against the government's demonetisation move.

The Congress and seven other opposition parties met on Monday to formulate a joint strategy to corner the government over various issues including demonetisation in the Winter Session of Parliament beginning November 16.

Earlier today, attacking the opposition parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the corrupt were upset while the poor were "enjoying a sound sleep" after his decision.


He also urged people to bear some inconvenience to root out graft.

The government has announced a number of steps to help the people.
