Hyundai Motor India registers record cumulative sales of 64,372 units.

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), the second largest car manufacturer in the country and the largest car exporter, on Tuesday said it registered the highest-ever domestic sales of 50,016 units and exports of 14,356 units with record cumulative sales of 64,372 units in October.


Domestic car sales jumped by 17.4% month-on-month during October with the latest addition to the Hyundai portfolio, the all-new 'Elantra' crossing the 1,500 bookings mark. "Hyundai achieved the highest and fastest domestic sales of 50,000 units mark within 15 months from the earlier milestone of 40,000 units," said Y K Koo, managing director & chief executive officer, Hyundai Motor India.


"The recently launched Elantra received an overwhelming response with 1,509 bookings resulting in 4-5 months waiting period," he said.




Domestic sales increased 6.4% year-on-year (y-o-y) during October, HMIL, the wholly-owned subsidiary of South Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) said.

However, exports declined 2.2% on a y-o-y basis during the month. Sales increased 4.3% y-o-y on a cumulative basis in October, the company said.


HMIL forms a critical part of HMC's global export hub. It currently exports to around 92 countries across Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Australia and the Asia Pacific. HMIL has been the country's top exporter of cars for the last 10 years consecutively.
