Pay taxes in advance to avoid hassle, RBI says.

The Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday asked income tax assessees to pay taxes in advance directly or at select bank branches. The Apex Bank has listed 29 banks, including PNBSBIHDFCAxis, IDBI, Indian Bank and Indian Overseas Bank.

Since the rush for remitting IT dues has been heavy towards the end of December every year, it becomes difficult to cope with the pressure of issuing receipts.

Additional counters have been provided for this purpose, but tax payers can also opt to pay through banks now, according to a statement from RBI.
