BookMyShow updates Android app with new design, personalized suggestions.

BookMyShow, one of India's leading ticketing and event booking portals, has rolled out a new update for its Android app. Bearing version number 5.0.7, the update introduces a new design that's focused on easy discoverability and faster ticket booking.



In addition, the update brings a smart and intuitive recommendation engine that helps in serving users with personalised entertainment suggestions. It also brings the ability to split bills and tickets using MyWallet.

Users can choose their preferred movies by filtering them using options such as languages or cinemas. Apart from the default English language, the app now also allows searches in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.


The redesigned app has a Mini Maps feature that allows users to get a bird's eye view of the full layout of the movie premises, as well as live events. The updated 'Just for you' section can understand users' selection behaviour by going through their history, while the new recommendation engine provides relevant suggestions.

The booking functionality for movies and events largely remains the same but with reduced steps. For booking a movie, users can now choose from different categories according to preferences. 

While the update has been only made available on Android yet, it may reach iOS soon as well.

Earlier this year, BookMyShow launched 'MyCoupons' in Pune, allowing users to avail discounts at nearby restaurants and cafes. The company partnered with over 100 eateries in Pune and Mumbai, including food joints like Subway, Cafe Coffee Day and Baskin Robbins.
