Pokemon Go's phenomenal rise now a subject of a documentary.

A TV documentary that explores the rise of the Pokemon Go phenomenon is set to make its premiere.

Produced by Japanese broadcaster Fuji TV, "How Pokemon Go Changed the World" will trace the origins of the reality mobile game that turned into a runaway hit.

The documentary reveals a few interesting tidbits on the game's evolution, including the fact that some of the ideas date back to the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters in Japan, and that the game helped save lives at one of the country's most notorious suicide spots, notes The Hollywood Reporter.

The full documentary will premiere on Fuji TV December 19 and is available in both English and Japanese versions.
